FALSE ALARMS

Preventing false alarms in your home.

  • Make sure your alarm system is only operated by people who have been properly instructed
  • Keep Movement sensors clean and free of insect build up (spiders can set off alarms)
  • Check that movement detectors are not obstructed
  • Close and lock all doors and windows before setting the alarm
  • Do not allow sources of heat or sound, moving objects or animals in range of your movement detectors
  • Know the specified entry/exit route and keep to it when unsetting and setting. Do not enter protected areas until the system has been unset
  • Report all accidental damage
  • Do not set the alarm system after a false call until the fault has been identified
  • Make sure your regular maintenance checks are carried out
  • Remember that repetitive false alarms may give rise to withdrawal of Police response
  • Record all incidents/visits in the log book
  • Check that all keys are readily available and that code numbers are known before entry

False alarms are not only a nuisance and disturbing for neighbours etc. but they also cause those around you to become complacent and ignore them. For assistance with false alarm management call us.
